Free Coldness Today!

That’s right hot folks! We’re giving away freeze pops today at lunch to help combat the heat. Where I grew up they were Otter Pops, so if you know what I’m talking about you’ll get a high five today. Come see us across from the Duke building, we’ll be ready with tacos and coldness for you.

Looking ahead to the next couple of days for lunch, we’ll be back uptown tomorrow (same spot) and then inside the Duke building (4th floor) on Friday.

Panko Crusted Ahi Tuna, Quick Fried and topped with Heirloom Carrot, Arugula, and Peach Salad

Seared Pork Belly

Local pork belly, slow cooked and seared until crispy, topped with a tatsoi and kohlrabi slaw, fresh orange zest, and baby fennel fronds

Topped with creamy cool and crunchy bacon kale slaw

Fresh local raw veggies, cucumber, radish, spring onion, heirloom, carrot, kale, and cabbage topped with garlic scape goat cheese

Orange you glad it’s Taco Day?

I know it’s dreary out right now, but did you know Roots tacos brighten up your day? Did you also know it’s National Running Day? So if you want to celebrate by running to our truck uptown today for lunch, we’ll give you a high five.

Panko Crusted Sail Fish

Panko crusted sail fish with strawberry melon salsa, fresh local mint, cilantro and a creamy, smoky, spicy aioli

Free Range Orange Chicken Taco

Roasted free range chicken simmered in a light orange marinade,  and topped with a slaw made from red Russian and Siberian Kale, red veined dandelion greens, and ginger sweet carrot vinaigrette

Chorizo Taco

Chorizo sausage made from ground pork and from Windy Hill Farm’s pasture raised cured and ground turkey, with curly heirloom local baby carrots and crisp celery, coated with a cool and creamy herbed dressing, oh yeah and we garnished it with some fine cut local rainbow radish

Brocco Taco

Blanched broccoli, with raw julienne bell red peppers, caramelized onion local blueberry chutney (sounds crazy….crazy good!)

Taco O’Clock

Hey hey! Since we couldn’t park uptown last week, I know you’ve been having taco withdrawals, so we’re here to save you! Lots of goodness on the menu today.

If you haven’t made it to the monthly #instabeerupclt event yet, tomorrow it’s goin’ down at Birdsong Brewing, 6pm-9pm. They’re always a good time, and Roots will be present to feed y’all!

Oh and we’ll be at Innovation Park and Uptown tomorrow, so be on the lookout for those menus in the AM.

Braised pork with roasted tomatoes and bell peppers, purple marinated cabbage and julienned carrots topped with Tikka Masala Sauce

Tuna Taco

Panko Crusted Tuna over greens and topped with watermelon, lemon grass salad and a mint Avocado Crema

Cashew Chicken

Poultry Junction Roasted chicken, kale and grilled jalapeno salad and a Cashew peanut aioli

Amarillo Cauliflower Taco

Local Yellow Cauliflower Florets blanched until soft over greens and topped with seasoned roma tomato and house made cheese and cracked black pepper

Taco Up!

Let’s get ready to ruuuumble! And by rumble I mean eat lots of Roots tacos today. Or maybe you feel like a burger today? Don’t fret, we’ve got a hamburguesa taco on the menu today to take care of that craving. We are Uptown today AND tomorrow for lunch, right across from the Duke building. Here’s today’s menu below, and be on the lookout for tomorrow’s menu…tomorrow morning. Genius thought I know.

Poultry Junction roasted chicken  dressed with honey balsamic, orange zested brussel sprouts and red onions

BBQ Pork

Braised pork with NC BBQ sauce, crispy red and green cabbage, golden delicious apples and a candied jalapeno aioli

Hamburguesa Taco

Painted Hills grass fed ground beef, greens, sesame seed marinated tomatoes, red onions, sweet potato fries and Special Sauce (a spin on 1000 Island)

Veggie Taco

Roasted potatoes tossed in lime cilantro vinaigrette, greens and an avocado puree

Camp Food vs Roots

Roots wins all day erryday. After a few days on the trails, grubbin’ on dehydrated meals, bars, and oatmeal, I am so ready for some Roots tacos! Aren’t you?? Got some great ones on the menu today. We’ll be Uptown across from the Duke building. It’s pretty Springy outside too, so it’s a great day to take a little walk.

We will not be at Innovation Park tomorrow due to a private event, but you all can catch us at Birdsong Brewing for Thursty Thursday tomorrow night! If you haven’t been to their new location yet, definitely check it out this week. It’s a great post-work spot to unwind, catch up with your buddies, or make some new ones.

Happy Taco Day to you! Since we love tacos so much and know you do too, we’re going to ignore those water droplets and serve lunch uptown today! Just grab an umbrella or do rock paper scissors with your co-workers to determine who gets to go do the Roots taco run.

Lucky for you we have a grilling class coming up on Tuesday, April 7 and we have some spots left with your name on it!
